Asian Tech Press (Nov 26) -- New Oriental Education, China's leading private tutoring firm, has recently started to offer online Chinese language courses in the United States, according to media reports.
Blingo, an education brand of New Oriental's BlingABC, posted a video on a Chinese social media platform on Tuesday showing its first offline event held in California last weekend.
Sources close to the matter said that this is the subsidiary's attempt to explore enterprise transformation, offering online courses that focus on teaching Chinese language.
Public information shows that Blingo was launched in August this year, mainly providing courses for overseas Chinese children and teenagers who are interested in learning Chinese language and Chinese culture, and improving their ability to listen, read, write and translate in Chinese.
Blingo responded to the rumors on Thursday afternoon on China's Twitter-like platform Weibo, saying that the video content was actually an offline feedback activity in the U.S., not a live enrollment, and that Blingo's Chinese classes are open to families of Chinese descent around the world and are not limited to the U.S.
