Musk expects Tesla FSD to be approved in China by year-end

Asia Tech Wire (July 24) -- Tesla CEO Elon Musk expects the U.S. electric carmaker to get approval for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature in China by the end of this year.

Musk mentioned on an earnings call Tuesday that the company will apply for regulatory approvals in Europe and China to implement supervised FSD, which he expects to get by the end of this year.

In June, Shanghai's Lingang New Area, home to Tesla's Shanghai factory, began promoting a Tesla FSD pilot on the ground, involving 10 Tesla cars that will undergo road testing in Shanghai.

While Tesla has yet to launch its FSD capability in the Chinese market, the company has been selling the feature with its Model 3 as early as when the model went on sale, and a subscription system may follow.
