Micron Technology plans to build a $7 bln new factory in Hiroshima, Japan

Asian Tech Press (OCT 20) -- According to media reports, in addition to TSMC, memory chip and storage solution provider Micron Technology also plans to invest 800 billion yen (about US$6.99 billion) to build a new factory in Hiroshima, Japan.

Micron Technology said the plant may specialize in producing DRAM memory chips and is expected to begin operations in 2024. The Japanese government may provide financial assistance to Micron Technology for this project.

Founded in 1978, Micron Technology is one of the semiconductor storage and imaging products manufacturers, whose main products include DRAM, NAND flash memory and CMOS image sensors, with Apple as one of its most important customers.
