Asia Tech Wire (July 18) -- The Italian Competition Authority (AGCM) announced on Thursday that it is investigating Google and its parent company Alphabet for alleged unfair business practices.
The regulator said that Google's requests to users to agree to link to its services may constitute misleading and aggressive commercial practices, and that the information provided by Google was incomplete and misleading.
In addition to this latest allegation, Google has faced another challenge in Italy.
In late June, the Italian tax authority demanded €1 billion ($1.07 billion) from Google for unpaid taxes and penalties from 2018 through 2022, according to Reuters.
