Israeli startup develops AI tool to identify if employees are faking illness

Israeli tech startup Binah.ai develops an AI tool that allows companies to remotely monitor employees' vital signs via cell phones, PCs and other devices to confirm whether they are sick or faking it to take time off work, according to the Daily Mail.

Users need to look into the camera for 45 seconds, and the Ai tool can read their vital signs, such as heart rate, oxygen saturation and breathing rate.

The tool penetrates the skin through the surrounding environment or the torchlight of the device and reflects from the blood vessels to the camera, and then calculates the vital signs based on different data, which can produce results within 10-60 seconds, thus allowing companies to confirm the health of their employees from a distance.

Binah.ai indicates that the AI system can detect subtle color differences that cannot be observed by the naked eye and can see the blood flow under the epidermis. The lens can capture 30 to 120 photos per second. The AI system processes the differences between the red, green, and blue light reflected from the skin in each image to show messages such as heart rate, oxygen saturation, and respiration rate frequency.

It is understood that users can use the tool on tablets, cell phones and PCs, but it may not read the user's body data in the case of insufficient light. The AI tool is delivered as an SDK or ready-to-use app, which supports iOS, Android mobile devices, and Windows laptops and desktops.
