Asia Tech Wire (Oct 22) -- British Airways has suspended flights to Israel until March next year.

British Airways announced on Tuesday that it is suspending flights to Tel Aviv until March 31, 2024, due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly the intensification of the conflict between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

The airline said in a statement that it aims to provide more certainty for its customers and is communicating with affected customers to offer a variety of options, including full refunds.

In addition, Lufthansa Group, the parent company of Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS), said Monday it would extend until Nov. 10 the suspension of flights to Tel Aviv, Israel.

Eurowings, a subsidiary of the German airline group, will also extend its suspension of flights to Tel Aviv until November 30th.

Meanwhile, Lufthansa has suspended flights to Tehran, Iran, and Beirut, Lebanon, until Oct. 31 and Nov. 30, respectively.

Aegean Airlines also recently said it will not operate flights to Israel until at least November 6th.

However, Spain's Air Europa and Greece-based Bluebird Airways resumed flights to Israel on Monday.
