Asia Tech Wire (Aug 8) -- German automotive chipmaker Infineon has officially inaugurated its third plant in Malaysia's Kulim High Tech Park.
The facility, which focuses on silicon carbide (SiC), is due to begin mass production in 2025.
The company pointed out that it took only 13 months from the start of construction to the completion of the first phase of the Kulim 3 facility, which is already ahead of schedule.
Infineon said that the plant's initial SiC production still focuses on mature 6-inch wafers, with a full shift to 8-inch wafers in 2027.
