Hyundai resumes production of Asan plant after 4-week suspension
Aug.9,2021

According to Yonhap, Hyundai's Asan plant has resumed production after a 4-week shutdown.

The four-week shutdown at Hyundai's Asan plant is to upgrade the plant's facilities in preparation for producing the IONIQ 6 electric vehicle later this year. Still, whether the upgrade has been wholly completed and whether the plant is ready to make electric vehicles is unclear.

Hyundai's Asan plant, mainly used to produce the Sonata and Santa Fe, has an annual capacity of 300,000 units. This shutdown will inevitably affect the production of these two vehicles.
