Asian Tech Press (OCT 29) -- Rental car company Hertz reportedly said it could expand its plan to provide Tesla cars to Uber to 150,000 over the next three years from an initial fleet of 50,000 if the partnership is successful.
However, chip shortages and other constraints could affect the plan. Hertz said earlier this week that it will order 100,000 Tesla cars by the end of 2022, half of which will be leasing options exclusively for Uber drivers by 2023.
Hertz CEO Mark Fields disclosed plans to potentially expand the Uber partnership in an interview with CNN on Wednesday.
