Asia Tech Wire (June 19) -- Winfried Vahland, former CEO of Volkswagen China, will chair Geely-owned Swedish EV maker Polestar's board of directors.

Polestar announced on Tuesday that Håkan Samuelsson, chairman of the company's board of directors, will step down.

It said Polestar's board has appointed Winfried Vahland as Samuelsson's successor.

However, the appointment will take effect after the company's annual general meeting.

Vahland, who has held positions such as president and CEO of Volkswagen Group China and CEO of Skoda, joined Polestar's board in January.
