A iFlytek employee who joined Tencent is fined about $1.85 million for violating the non-compete agreement, a source close to iFlytek said.

Chinese information technology company iFlytek (002230.SZ) previously sued Lu Yun, a former employee who joined Tencent, for violating a non-compete agreement. The case was heard by the Anhui High People's Court, which rejected Lu's appeal and upheld the original verdict.

The lawsuit was heard by the Hefei Intermediate People's Court at the first instance, which ruled that Lu should continue to fulfill his non-compete obligations and pay 12 million yuan (about $1.85 million) in damages to iFlytek for breach of the contract.
