Asian Tech Press (Apr. 20) -- AITO Wenjie M5, the first HarmonyOS-powered electric vehicle, raised prices due to increased raw material costs.

Chinese electric car brand AITO announced on Wednesday that Wenjie M5's 4WD edition will undergo a price adjustment starting at 12:00 p.m. GMT on May 5, 2022.

The electric vehicle (EV) maker said that details of the price adjustment will be announced by May 5, 2022.

In addition, Wenjie M5's rear-wheel drive standard version will start at 259,800 yuan ($40,619), up 10,000 yuan, and will go on sale at 4:08 p.m. BST on April 20, 2022.

The AITO Wenjie M5 is the first vehicle from AITO, a premium brand created by automaker Seres and Huawei, and the first to be equipped with Huawei's latest HarmonyOS-powered Smart Cockpit.

The core power of the EV model comes from Huawei Drive ONE, Huawei's first high-voltage all-in-one electric drive system, and the whole vehicle is also deeply involved in Huawei's R&D and manufacturing.

On December 23, 2021, Huawei held its winter flagship product launch, during which Wenjie M5 was unveiled.

In March 2022, AITO officially began delivering Wenjie M5 to customers.
