Asia Tech Wire (Oct 17) -- German Chancellor Olaf Scholz once again criticized the European Union's policy of imposing tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles in a speech to the German federal parliament on Wednesday.
He said that 17 countries within the EU do not support this policy, and most of the EU's automobile manufacturers are also opposed to this policy.
And Scholz had expressed clear opposition and criticism of the EU's tariff increase on Chinese electric cars earlier this month.
In the speech, Scholz also said that in the near future he will invite leaders of domestic industry associations and labor unions to discuss the development of a new industrial policy.
Representatives of EU member states voted earlier this month to adopt a draft decision, which proposes to impose definitive anti-subsidy duties on Chinese electric vehicles.
