National Business Wire (Jan 10) -- Chinese-backed startup AWOL Vision has attracted many visitors at CES 2024 with its triple-laser projection television.
Founded in 2020, AWOL Vision is a U.S. projector manufacturer backed by Chinese investment, with its headquarters in Florida and an office in China's tech hub Shenzhen.
The company sells its projector products at prices ranging from $2,000 to $16,000 primarily in the U.S. and Europe, focusing on the mid-to-high end of the market.
Daymond John, a well-known investor and co-star of ABC's entrepreneurial business show, "Shark Tank," also came to the AWOL Vision booth at CES 2024 on Tuesday to interact with visitors.
The interaction was set to last for an hour, but to his surprise, Daymond stayed for nearly 2 hours because these visitors were so enthusiastic.
Andy Zhao, a Chinese entrepreneur who is one of the two founders of AWOL Vision, told NBW that the company raised about $1 million in its product debut on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo in 2022.
He said that although AWOL Vision is a startup, strong demand in the North American market has allowed it to secure increasing orders. Next, the company will try to promote in mainland China.
AWOL Vision has not received any external funding yet, Zhao said, adding that the projector maker is currently seeking investor attention for a leapfrog growth.
