Asian Tech Press (Oct 18) -- China Unicom and Cambodia's Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPTC) signed a statement of cooperation on an subsea fiber-optic cable project on Tuesday.
The two sides signed the statement on the landing of the subsea fiber-optic cable project linking Preah Sihanouk and Hong Kong at the CEO Conference during the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) in Beijing.
The cable under construction is the first state-owned submarine cable in Cambodia, which is of great significance to the development of communication technology in the country.
This high-capacity submarine fiber-optic cable for international communications, connecting Hong Kong, China and Preah Sihanouk, Cambodia, has a total length of nearly 3,000 kilometers.
The project officially started on March 2, 2023, and is expected to be completed in July 2025 for delivery and acceptance.
