Asia Tech Wire (July 31) -- The global smartphone market shipped 288.9 million units in the second quarter of 2024, up 12% year-on-year, marking the third consecutive quarter of positive growth, according to market research firm Canalys.
The latest report from Canalys shows that Samsung continued to take the number one spot, shipping 53.5 million units for a 21% market share.
Apple shipped 45.6 million units for a 17% market share, while China's Xiaomi shipped 42.3 million units for a 15% market share.
Xiaomi's Chinese counterpart, vivo, was back in fourth place again, shipping 25.9 million units with a 9% market share.
Transsion, which has recently been in legal battles with Qualcomm, came in fifth with 25.5 million units shipped and a 9% market share.
