Asia Tech Wire (Sep 27) -- Market research firm Canalys expects China's tablet market to grow 9% in 2024.
A new Canalys report notes that PC shipments (including desktops, notebooks and workstations) in mainland China fell 6% year-on-year to 9.1 million units in the second quarter of 2024, mainly due to continued weak demand.
In contrast, tablet sales surged 20% to 7.8 million units, thanks to increased tablet penetration and online promotions.
Canalys expects the tablet market to grow 9% in 2024, while the PC market will decline 4%.
However, the firm expects this situation to improve, with PC shipments growing 12% and tablet shipments growing 1% by 2025.
