Asian Tech Press (Oct 21) -- Bosch China's top executives reportedly visited Baidu's EV firm Jidu Auto, possibly due to the booking of chip capacity for 2023.

Chen Yudong, president of Bosch China, led a delegation to visit Jiduo Auto's Shanghai office on Thursday to exchange views with Jidu's chief executive Xia Yiping on intelligence and technology, Chinese media reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The report said that due to the continued impact of COVID-19 in Southeast Asia since August, some of Bosch's automotive-grade chips are in short supply due to capacity constraints.

In addition, according to industry sources, the discussion between Jidu and Bosch may be due to Jidu's intention to book Bosch's chip capacity in 2023 in advance.

Jidu Auto, a smart electric vehicle venture, is co-founded by China's tech giant Baidu Inc and Chinese automaker Geely.
