BMW, Mercedes-Benz among others recall nearly 29,000 cars in South Korea

According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that six car companies, including BMW and Mercedes-Benz, will voluntarily recall nearly 29,000 vehicles to fix faulty parts.

BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Toyota, Honda and Jaguar Land Rover will recall a total of 28,946 vehicles involving 35 models, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said in a statement.

The statement said the problems include a faulty brake vacuum pump in the BMW 630i xDrive Gran Tourismo, a possible failure of the Mercedes-Benz C 200 engine control unit software, a possible failure of the Toyota Prius 2WD sedan's emergency braking system, and a vulnerable drive shaft in the Hyundai Grand Starex van.

The aforementioned companies have begun or will begin offering repair and replacement services starting Thursday.
