Asian Tech Press (Oct 15) -- Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp. announced Friday that its global production plans for November will drop 15% due to a slowdown in auto chip production caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.
In a press release, Toyota said the global planned production for November will now be 100,000 to 150,000 vehicles less than originally projected.
According to Reuters, Toyota had previously lowered its production plan for the year ending March 31 to 9 million vehicles from 9.3 million. But it is sticking to its profit forecast of 2.5 trillion yen ( $22.7 billion) for the current fiscal year.
Toyota has cut its production plan for three months in a row since announcing the cuts in August.
