Kim Jun, CEO of South Korea's SK Innovation Co Ltd, said the company is considering spinning off its battery business and pushing for its listing.
At the same time, the company announced plans to increase its battery production capacity. SK Innovation plans to expand its annual battery production capacity to 200 GWh by 2025, a 60% increase from the previously announced target of 125 GWh.
When asked about the possibility of an IPO for their battery business, Kim Jun said they would consider whether to list only on Nasdaq or list on both Korea and Nasdaq if there is an opportunity.
He also said that they have not yet decided how to split their battery business. The company is considering spinning off the battery business to get more resources as it will require considerable resources to develop the battery business in the future further.
