Asia Tech Wire (June 13) -- Apple Inc. will pay for ChatGPT through distribution rather than cash, according to Bloomberg.

Apple on Monday announced a deal with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into iPhones, iPads and Macs, but did not disclose financial terms that day.

Citing people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg said that at least initially, the partnership would not generate meaningful revenue for either party, and that Apple would not pay OpenAI for the partnership, but would instead promote OpenAI's brand and technology through Apple's distribution system.

OpenAI and Apple could still realize revenue by converting free users to paid accounts, the report noted.
