Asian Tech Press (Jan 20) -- Apple Music is the second most used music streaming service, according to a new report from Midia Research. Apple Music currently has a 15 percent market share and nearly 524 million listeners worldwide.
Spotify remains the music streaming service with the highest market share (31%), but this is down from 33% in Q2 2020 and 34% in Q2 2019.
Amazon Music and Tencent Music are each known to have a 13% market share, while YouTube Music accounts for 8% of global subscriptions. The report notes that global music listeners have grown by 109.5 million by the end of the second quarter of 2021, increasing about 26 percent or more year-over-year.
Apple's music streaming service has been making some moves to set itself apart from other music streaming services. Last year, the company released support for Dolby Atmos and lossless audio for spatial audio at no extra charge to users.
