Toyota Motor of Japan said on February 18 that it will purchase automotive batteries from LG Energy Solution of South Korea in the United States, and will purchase them from the LG Energy Solution factory that General Motors decided to withdraw its investment in at the end of 2024. Toyota's order size is about US$1.5 billion, and Toyota is expected to purchase batteries for pure electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles.
