American Airlines Group has finally taken delivery of its first Airbus A321XLR long-range aircraft, but the plane will remain in Europe due to a shortage of seats caused by supply chain issues. American Airlines said in a statement that it signed documents to take delivery of the aircraft in Hamburg, Germany on Friday. American Airlines ordered 50 of the long-range aircraft in 2019 and plans to put the first aircraft into service on transcontinental routes in the United States later this year, and then switch to international routes. American Airlines said in a statement that the aircraft "will remain in Europe until the current seat supply chain issues are resolved," but declined to name the seat manufacturer.
