South Korea's auto exports fell nearly 20% year-on-year to $4.99 billion in January
Data released by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea on February 18 showed that South Korea's automobile exports in January this year decreased by 19.6% year-on-year to US$4.99 billion. Due to the Spring Festival holiday, which resulted in four fewer working days year-on-year, and the base effect of the record high automobile exports in January last year, automobile exports in January decreased year-on-year. Automobile exports in January decreased by 17.9% year-on-year to 199,700 vehicles. By brand, Hyundai Motor decreased by 15.3% year-on-year to 85,200 vehicles; Kia decreased by 17.9% to 76,900 vehicles; General Motors Korea (GM) decreased by 29.3% to 30,400 vehicles; KG Mobility increased by 5% to 5,680 vehicles; Renault Korea increased by 438.1% to 1,216 vehicles. New energy vehicle exports decreased by 4.4% year-on-year to 58,100 vehicles. Specifically, electric vehicles decreased by 41.8% to 17,700 vehicles. Hybrid vehicles increased by 35.5% to 35,700 vehicles. Plug-in hybrid vehicles increased by 16.7% to 4,733 units.
