Chinese electric car maker Nio's smart driving R&D division announced a series of organizational changes on Tuesday, according to 36Kr.
The report said that the smart driving division will have a new technology committee responsible for building comprehensive mega capabilities.
The realignment is said to focus on strengthening the capabilities of Nio's smart driving delivery team to ensure program delivery.
In addition, Shaoqing Ren, head of Nio's smart driving division, will further direct the team and personally lead Nio's large model department, which was previously led by Chao Peng, head of perception algorithms, who reported to Ren.
The report also pointed out that after this adjustment, the person in charge of key areas such as driving and parking solutions and data closed-loop solutions will also report directly to Ren.
In response to the report, Nio said, "The company has taken the initiative to adjust in order to ensure better delivery of advanced features to users, as well as to meet the business needs of multi-platform and multi-functionality of the business, and agility to respond to rapid changes in technology and products."
An employee with knowledge of the matter told 36Kr that the core of this adjustment is, in fact, to break down departmental walls and accelerate end-to-end on-boarding delivery.
