New model explains the "half-ice, half-fire" phase of magnetic materials

According to the official website of the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory on the 25th, physicists discovered a new phase of matter that is "half ice and half fire" when studying a one-dimensional model of ferrimagnetic materials, and successfully explained it with a mathematical model. This breakthrough fills the gap in the understanding of condensed matter physics and may bring great progress to technologies such as quantum computing and spin electronics.
