New model explains the "half-ice, half-fire" phase of magnetic materials
2025-03-28 06:06:31

According to the official website of the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory on the 25th, physicists discovered a new phase of matter that is "half ice and half fire" when studying a one-dimensional model of ferrimagnetic materials, and successfully explained it with a mathematical model. This breakthrough fills the gap in the understanding of condensed matter physics and may bring great progress to technologies such as quantum computing and spin electronics. The relevant paper was published in the latest issue of Physical Review Letters.
