The Dutch Data Protection Authority (DPA) fined Netflix €4.75 million, it said in a statement on Wednesday.
The fine is for Netflix's failure to properly inform its customers about the use of their personal data between 2018 and 2020.
The DPA said the investigation, which began in 2019, revealed that the company had not been clear enough in its privacy statement to inform customers about exactly what it does with that data.
Netflix has updated its privacy notice and improved its information terms, but has objected to the fine decision.
