Several Chinese netizens recently posted videos on social media claiming to have encountered Xiaomi founder Lei Jun and BYD Chairman and CEO Wang Chuanfu at Xiaomi's car factory.

In the video footage, Wang toured the Xiaomi car factory accompanied by Lei Jun, who personally served as a guide, introducing Wang to the operations of the Xiaomi factory.

A man wearing a short-sleeved shirt behind Lei is suspected to be Hu Zhengnan, an investment partner at Shunwei Capital, who previously served as the director of Geely Automobile Research Institute.

BYD is an important battery supplier for Xiaomi's car division.

Xiaomi's first car, the Xiaomi SU7, comes in three versions: Standard, Pro, and Max. The Standard version is equipped with either BYD subsidiary FinDreams Battery's Blade Battery or CATL batteries.

And Xiaomi's second car, the Xiaomi YU7, features 96.3kWh lithium iron phosphate batteries supplied by FinDreams Battery and CATL in both the Standard and Pro versions.

In the smartphone business, BYD and Xiaomi also have collaborations.

On July 27, 2024, Wang Haoyu, Deputy General Manager of BYD's Energy Storage and New Battery Division, stated at the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference that many people perceive BYD as solely an automotive company, but it is more than that.

He pointed out that currently, most smartphones on the market, including Huawei and Xiaomi phones, are actually produced by BYD.
