Intel's 18A process chip has attracted much attention: Nvidia and Broadcom are conducting production tests, and AMD is in the evaluation stage
Nvidia and Broadcom are working with Intel on production tests, showing initial confidence in Intel's advanced production technology, two people familiar with the matter said. The tests used Intel's 18A process, a series of technologies and methods developed over many years that are capable of manufacturing advanced artificial intelligence processors and other complex chips. The tests suggest the two companies are close to deciding whether to hand over a foundry contract worth hundreds of millions of dollars to Intel. The decision could bring unexpected revenue to Intel and endorse its foundry business. AMD is also evaluating whether Intel's 18A manufacturing process is suitable for its needs, but it is unclear whether AMD has sent test chips to Intel factories. "We don't comment on specific customers, but we see strong interest and engagement in Intel 18A across the ecosystem," an Intel spokesperson said.
