Preliminary data released by International Data Corporation (IDC) showed that Apple and Samsung's global smartphone shipments fell in the fourth quarter.
IDC reported that Apple's global shipments fell 4.1% to 76.9 million units in the fourth quarter, while Samsung's shipments fell 2.7% to 51.7 million units due to increased competition from companies such as Xiaomi, OPPO and Honor.
In 2024, Apple will top the global smartphone market with a market share of 18.7%, followed by Samsung with 18%, and then Xiaomi with 13.6%.
However, among the top five smartphone brands last year, Apple's shipments fell by 0.9%, Samsung's shipments fell by 1.4%, and Xiaomi's shipments grew the fastest, soaring 15.4%.
Chinese mobile phone manufacturers accounted for 56% of global smartphone shipments in the fourth quarter, setting a record for the highest total shipments in a single quarter.
