In January this year, the open source reasoning model R1 released by DeepSeek caused a huge response overseas, and caused the market value of Nvidia, the "AI darling" of the US stock market, to evaporate by nearly US$600 billion in a single day. Recently, Nvidia CEO Huang Renxun made his first public response to the matter. He said that the market's violent reaction was due to investors' misunderstanding. Huang Renxun emphasized that although the development of R1 seems to have reduced the dependence on computing power, the AI industry still needs strong computing power to support model training post-processing methods, which allow AI models to reason or predict after training. Huang Renxun said: "From an investor's perspective, they think the world is divided into two stages: pre-training and reasoning, and reasoning is asking AI questions and getting answers immediately. I don't know who caused this misunderstanding, but it is obviously wrong." He further pointed out that pre-training is still important, but post-processing is "the most important part of intelligence" and "the key link in learning to solve problems."
