Feb.28,2022

Asian Tech Press (Feb 28) -- American web services provider Yahoo has shut down its email service in mainland China since Monday.

Yahoo previously announced that from November 1, 2021, users will not be able to use its products and services from mainland China, but still retain a few services such as email.

However, according to a recent notice received by users, the email service Yahoo Mail will also stop in mainland China.

A notice email sent to users by Yahoo said that Yahoo Mail will stop its services in mainland China on February 28, and that users can log in and download backups before the deadline.

According to the notice, after February 28, users can no longer receive or send emails from mainland China. At the same time, the company also said that there will be no change in the use of global users outside of mainland China.

Yahoo entered China in 1998 and announced its exit from the mainland market in November last year.

Litmus statistics show that in January 2022, Apple ranked first in terms of email client market share in January 2022, Google's Gmail second, Microsoft's Outlook third and Yahoo Mail fourth.
