Asian Tech Press (Mar. 23) -- A U.S. court ruled that ZTE Corp. should be allowed to end a five-year probation for allegedly violations of U.S. sanctions on Iran.

After years of being under U.S. government supervision, the Chinese technology company is exempt from some of that oversight.

The ruling by a federal judge in Texas effectively ends a five-year period of monitoring on ZTE's compliance.

ZTE reached a settlement agreement in 2017 to end the U.S. sanctions-related charges, and a Dallas attorney was assigned to oversee the Chinese telecom company's compliance with the settlement.

ZTE was once the world's fourth-largest manufacturer of telecommunications equipment and a major builder of China's 5G networks.
