Toshiba CEO says going private is too risky
Feb.28,2022

Asian Tech Press (Feb 28) -- CEO of Japanese electronics giant Toshiba Corp (TYO:6502) said that selling the company and taking it private would be fraught with risks that he could not accept.

Bloomberg reported that Toshiba CEO Satoshi Tsunakawa said in an interview that the company is not ruling out the possibility of going private, but that the option has about five risks that cannot be ignored.

The company previously announced that it would split into two companies, but fund investors recently offered to take the company private, but Singapore-based 3D Investment Partners Pte has called for reconsideration of other options.

Tsunakawa stressed that splitting into two companies would be the best plan even as activist investors call for renewed talks with private equity buyers.
