Asian Tech Press (Jan 17) -- Tesla Inc. has reportedly delayed production of the Cybertruck electric pickup truck until 2023.
According to an exclusive report by Reuters on Friday, Tesla is changing the features and functions of the Cybertruck due to increasing competition in the segment, so the model will be delayed until 2023.
The report said that the U.S. electric vehicle maker is expected to make limited production of the Cybertruck in the first quarter of 2023. This is the third time the Tesla Cybertruck has been delayed.
When it debuted in 2019, Tesla CEO Elon Musk claimed that the Cybertruck would enter the market in 2021. However, in August 2021, Tesla confirmed that production plans had been pushed back to 2022.
Musk later stated that production would be delayed again until the end of 2022, and that mass production would not occur until the end of 2023.
As originally planned, the Tesla Cybertruck was to be produced at its superfactory in Austin, Texas, but as of now the plant has yet to officially mass produce the Cybertruck.
