Asia Tech Wire (Sep 2) -- Tencent shareholder Prosus has announced that the company's chief financial officer, Basil Sgourdos, will retire later this year.

The company is trying to close the gap between its own market capitalization and the value of its stake in Chinese tech giant Tencent.

Basil Sgourdos is CFO of Amsterdam-listed Prosus and its South African parent Naspers.

News of his retirement came after Prosus and Naspers appointed Fabricio Bloisi as their new chief executive in May.

Longtime Prosus and Naspers CEO Bob van Dijk stepped down last September, and Ervin Tu, the chief investment officer of both companies, took over as interim CEO at the time.
