Asia Tech Wire (Feb 21) -- Temu, a cross-border e-commerce platform owned by Chinese e-commerce giant Pinduoduo, had more than 15 million users in Japan by January 2024, according to Tokyo-based data analyst VALUES.
Since entering the Japanese market in July 2023, the number of users of Temu, which sells low-priced daily necessities and other products, has been growing by 2.2 million per month.
Temu's user base is now 52% of the average number of users (approximately 29.7 million) of Japan's three leading e-commerce platforms, including Amazon Japan, Rakuten Ichiba, and Yahoo! Shopping.
Meanwhile, Singapore-based fast-fashion retailer Shein has more users than its Japanese counterpart ZOZOTOWN.
