Taiwan Affairs Office responds to concerns on the island that the US is hollowing out Taiwan's semiconductor industry

On the morning of April 16, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference. Reporter: According to reports, TSMC and Intel have reached a preliminary agreement to establish a joint venture chip manufacturing company, in which TSMC holds a 20% stake. Taiwan's United Microelectronics Corporation is also evaluating a merger with GlobalFoundries of the United States to establish an American company, with the ultimate goal of replacing TSMC. Suspicions on the island that the United States is hollowing out Taiwan's semiconductor industry continue to grow. What is your comment on this? TSMC has long become a token of the DPP authorities' "relying on the United States to seek independence". It is only a matter of time before the island's semiconductor industry is handed over by Lai Qingde, a "professional seller of Taiwan". "It is as difficult to establish as ascending to heaven, and as easy to fall as burning a hair." If the DPP authorities are allowed to continue on the evil path of "selling out Taiwan" and "destroying Taiwan", Taiwan's industry and people will not only lose their current jobs, but also lose future development opportunities.

JPMorgan: Tariffs pressure demand to lower TSMC's target price and earnings forecast

JPMorgan Chase released a research report, lowering TSMC's target price from NT$1,500 to NT$1,300, and giving it an "overweight" rating. JPMorgan predicts that TSMC's revenue in the second quarter of this year will grow by 5% to 8% quarter-on-quarter, driven by strong demand for N4/N5 and N3 processes, some rush orders for old processes, and continued growth in advanced packaging business. However, under the influence of tariffs and the global economic slowdown, TSMC's management may lower its revenue growth guidance for fiscal 2025 from about 25% to a mid-to-low range of 20%. JPMorgan currently predicts that its full-year revenue will grow by 23% (in US dollars).

TSMC plans to mass produce panel-level advanced chip packaging in 2027

TSMC is about to complete the research and development of panel-level advanced chip packaging (PLP) and plans to start small-scale production around 2027. To meet the demand for more powerful artificial intelligence chips, panel-level advanced chip packaging will use square substrates that can accommodate more semiconductors instead of traditional round substrates.
