Asia Tech Wire (May 20) -- South Korea's LG Electronics has terminated its extended reality (XR) partnership with Facebook parent Meta Platforms, according to KED Global.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg visited South Korea at the end of February this year, during which he met with LG executives and agreed to a strategic partnership to create the next generation of XR devices.

However, the report, citing people familiar with the matter, said LG is now looking for a new partner to provide the operating system and software for the XR devices it plans to launch next year.

After Meta, Amazon, another major U.S. tech company, has emerged as a candidate for the partnership.
