Asia Tech Wire (Feb 26) -- Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, now CEO of Meta Platforms Inc., will meet with LG Electronics CEO William Cho around Wednesday in Seoul, according to the Korea Economic Daily.

During the meeting, the two sides will discuss AI, XR and other technology and product-related cooperation, and key executives from LG Group's IT parts subsidiaries will also be in attendance, the report said.

A senior electronics industry source noted that the main reason for Zuckerberg's visit to South Korea again after a decade is to discuss XR headset with LG Electronics.

"We understand that the two sides at this meeting will formally announce the joint development plan for the XR headset, a news that has circulated for a long time," the person said.

The two companies are working together to develop an ultra-high-specification XR headset, with the aim of launching the product in the first half of next year, which is likely to outperform even Apple's Vision Pro headset.

The Korea Economic Daily noted that the two companies are focusing on how to manufacture the high-end headset, software services for the product, and how to plan a sales strategy.

It also reported last week that Zuckerberg will meet with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong during his trip to South Korea to discuss artificial intelligence (AI) chip supply and other AI issues.
