Asian Tech Press (Oct 21) -- South Korea's first domestically built space rocket Nuri failed to put its test payload into orbit.
The space rocket Nuri was launched at 5 p.m. local time Thursday at the Naro Space Center in Goheung.
About an hour after the rocket lifted off, South Korean President Moon Jae-in announced on the spot that Nuri completed all its flight sequences but failed to put its test payload into orbit.
The specific reason for the rocket's failure is that the rocket's third stage failed to put the 1.5-ton simulated payload into its intended orbit.
Nuri is a three-stage rocket using liquid oxygen (LOx)/Kerosene combustion as propellant, formerly known as the Korean Satellite Launch Vehicle II (KSLV II).
