Asia Tech Wire (June 17) -- Chinese electric car maker Nio announced late Friday that its smart electric flagship SUV model, the EL8, is now available in five European countries.

Nio revealed that the EL8 went on sale in Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark on June 13, making it the company's sixth model to launch in Europe.

In the German market, the Nio EL8 is available in two models, with the 75 kWh battery version priced at €94,900 and the 100 kWh battery version priced at €103,900.

For reference, the model is known as the ES8 in China, with a price tag of 498,000 yuan to 598,000 yuan.

The Chinese automaker said that it has been expanding in Europe since 2021, with a total of 43 power swap stations and 45 supercharging piles, and access to more than 600,000 third-party chargers.
