Asia Tech Wire (Sep 20) -- Chinese electric car maker Nio has denied rumors that it is buying Audi's Brussels plant.

In an interview on Friday, Nio Chairman and CEO William Li denied that he would buy Audi's Brussels factory, saying he was "not clear about where the rumors came from."

Recently, industry rumors have circulated that Nio is in talks to buy Audi's Brussels plant in Belgium and will make an offer to the Volkswagen Group by next Monday.

The plant is Audi's first electric vehicle plant, responsible for the production of the Audi Q8 e-tron.

Audi is planning to reorganize the Brussels plant, which has been in a state of shutdown since the beginning of September, due to low sales.

Sources also said earlier that Audi is looking for a new investor for the plant.
