Asian Tech Press (Sep 8) -- South Korean electronics company LG Electronics Inc. said Wednesday that its software testing center has been pproved as an international certification institute to test the functional safety of automotive software, Yonhap News Agency reported.

LG said that the approval was granted by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme for verifying the ISO 26262-6 standard.

The report stated, the standard "focuses on the functional safety of electrical or electronic systems installed in road vehicles and addresses possible risks caused by malfunctioning behavior of such safety-related systems."

It's reported that LG's certificate will be accepted in 70 countries, including Japan and the United States, under International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation's mutual recognition arrangement.
