Asia Tech Wire (June 6) -- Japanese automaker Honda announced Wednesday that it has begun production of a fuel cell vehicle (FCV) in the U.S.
Production of the all-new 2025 Honda CR-V e:FCEV fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) has begun at the Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) in Ohio, Honda said in a statement.
According to the statement, the car is the only FCEV made in the U.S. and the first production hydrogen FCEV in the U.S. to combine an all-new U.S.-made fuel cell system with plug-in electric vehicle charging capabilities.
Honda and its U.S. counterpart,General Motors (GM), co-developed the fuel cell system for this this hydrogen FCEV.
And the latest move means that Honda has become the first car company to mass-produce a fuel cell passenger vehicle in the U.S.
