Asia Tech Wire (July 24) -- The first Olympic Esports Games will take place in Saudi Arabia in 2025.
At the 142nd Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Paris on Tuesday, there was unanimous approval of a much-anticipated proposal to organize the first Olympic Esports Games in Saudi Arabia in 2025.
The IOC had previously announced that it would partner with the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Saudi Arabia to organize the first Olympic Esports Games, and said that the proposal would be considered at the IOC Session that will take place on the eve of the opening of Paris 2024.
For the organisation of the Olympic Esports Games, the IOC has partnered with the Saudi NOC for 12 years.
Following the adoption of the proposal, the two sides will immediately work on selecting a city and venue for the inaugural edition of the Olympic Esports Games, confirming details such as the timing of the event and the qualification process for the players.
