Asian Tech Press (Nov 2) -- Chinese autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV) technology company EHang Holdings Limited (Nasdaq: EH) on Wednesday announced the opening of Europe's first urban air mobility center for unmanned eVTOLs.
EHang said it inaugurated its first Urban Air Mobility (UAM) center in Europe inside Lleida–Alguaire Airport in Spain.
This is the first UAM center for unmanned electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in the European region, and will serve as a model for the effective integration of eVTOL aircraft operations with airport infrastructure, air traffic management (ATM) systems, operational processes and other information technologies worldwide.
The UAM center contains a vertical take-off and landing airport that meets the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)'s design specifications, and is effectively integrated with airport terminals, aprons, towers, equipment, processes and regulations.
EHang said that this groundbreaking UAM center stems from its strategic partnership with Aeroports de Catalunya in the field of urban air mobility.
In October this year, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) issued a type certificate (TC) for EHang's self-developed EH216-S passenger-carrying Unmanned Aircraft Vehicle (UAV) System.
EHang will also deploy the EH216-S at the European UAM center, where it can be used to develop and formulate technical solutions, improve regulations, processes and procedures.
