Asia Tech Wire (Aug 9) -- Chinese smartphone brands are in talks with Google over the introduction of its Gemini AI model, according to the latest market news.

Google is working with Chinese brands such as Xiaomi and OPPO in an attempt to introduce Google Gemini to more Chinese models, marking an important layout for Chinese smartphone makers in the global AI phone market.

During Google I/O Connect China 2024, several Chinese phone makers took the stage to discuss Google Gemini and its place in proprietary hardware.

OPPO and Xiaomi both showcased their partnership with Google on non-Chinese social media platforms like X.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said the company will keep working with Google on its upcoming Xiaomi flagship devices for international markets, leveraging the Google Gemini model and Google Cloud.
